Alyssa D’Angelo

In a city that boasts over 24,000 restaurants, New York City is undeniably home to some of the best food in the world. Chef Alyssa D’Angelo was born and raised immersed in this delicious world.

However, her passion for food started at home. Born into a big Italian-American family, Alyssa quickly learned the importance of family, community, gathering and good food. Cooking alongside her parents and grandparents in the kitchen, Alyssa started to build a strong foundation: good flavor combinations, knife skills, mastering decades old family recipes.

After high school, she enrolled at SUNY New Paltz where she completed a Bachelor of Arts. From there she continued her culinary training at the prestigious French Culinary Institute of Manhattan. Her training at FCI took her on a life-changing journey to Italy where she learned much more than to cook.

The majority of her experiences in Italy were spent at dinner tables instead of in kitchens. She ate, drank and talked for hours with strangers who became friends.

“You don’t go to Italy to learn how to cook. You go there to learn how to eat.” Arnie Marcella

It was these real-life experiences that truly taught Alyssa how to cook. For herself and for others. The joy that food can bring people. It can connect strangers, bridge continents, and create lasting memories. The smell of cacio e pepe instantly brings her back to the streets of Rome and Zia Maria’s Focaccia.

After graduating from FCI, Alyssa put her education into action and began working in prominent NYC restaurants. She learned valuable training on the line that she applies to her cooking today: discipline, teamwork, and sourcing quality ingredients. Less is more: start with good, local ingredients and don’t over-manipulate them.

Prior to becoming a personal chef, Alyssa had the pleasure of working alongside some of New York’s most notable chef’s, including Danny Meyer (Shake Shack, Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern) and Michael White (Marea, Ai Fiori, Osteria Morini). Working in some of NYC’s most prominent restaurants (Maialino, Ai Fiori) helped Alyssa hone her skills and prepare to become a personal chef and caterer.

Alyssa brings her years of training, traveling and her love of good food to every project. She cherishes the relationships she has cultivated with vendors and farmers at the markets. She takes pride in working one-on-one with her clients to create a personal, memorable and delicious experience for them.

"Off the line chefs is the best. One of my favorite parts of my week is talking to our chef to plan my family’s weekly menu. She is super professional, delightful and flexible. She makes wonderful suggestions for food, accommodates our dietary requests (when we are trying to eat healthy) and is as adventurous with the meals as we want her to be. She shops, cooks and then leaves the kitchen spotless - none of which I have time for so she is truly a godsend! Our chef has also done a few special dinner parties for my friends where she talked us through a fun cooking demonstration and is happy to giving cooking advice to my husband, daughter and I. She is a delight to know, and I am fortunate to have stumbled upon her!" STEPHANIE

"I recently had family coming into town, and as luck would have it I was called out of town on business the day before they came in. I knew I was going to be home in time for them, but I also knew I wasn’t going to have time to cook for them. Off The Line Chefs was there to the rescue, with a homemade meal waiting for our family when I got home, and I was able to relax with a glass of wine, or two, and enjoy their company, instead of having to sweat away in the kitchen. I would refer Off The Line Chefs to everyone I know, especially around the holidays." JENNIFER

"Raising a child is tough enough with two parents, but being a single parent it takes it to the next level. I try and make sure he has the best possible meals for lunch and dinner, but he’s a picky eater (read no veggies) so it’s hard to cook for him and myself at the same time, and still have time to do anything else at the end of the day. Off The Line Chefs was there with the weekly meals that I knew I would enjoy, and my son would eat, leaving me more time to spend with him." MOLLY
